Argonaut Gold Environmental Policy Statement

It is the policy of Argonaut Gold Inc. to integrate protection of the natural environment and economic growth in exploring for and mining of precious metals. Argonaut will strive to utilize environmental protection measures that are reasonable as well as economically and technologically feasible.

Environmental Policy Objectives and Responsibilities

Argonaut Gold's Board of Directors and senior management will endeavour to provide the leadership, support, resources and training necessary to assure that employee activities are in compliance with this Policy. Each Argonaut Gold employee is expected to carry out his or her responsibilities having due regard to this Policy.

Policy Evaluation

In as much as Argonaut Gold conducts business in a variety of environments, the implementation of this Policy is dynamic. However, the progress of the development of environmental programs will be evaluated annually by the Board of Directors and on an ongoing basis by the President/CEO and Chief Operating Officer. Argonaut Gold will endeavour to continue the development of an Environmental Management Program that incorporates:
  • regular evaluations of environmental performance at each operating facility. The evaluations are designed to identify outstanding performance along with improvements or modifications that are needed to maintain compliance with this Policy;

  • work in consultation with appropriate national, regional or local governments and recognized stakeholders, where appropriate, in analysing emerging and applicable environmental issues, finding solutions to such environmental problems and developing sound environmental standards;

  • continued work with those individuals or groups undertaking research to develop new processes and technologies for minimizing the environmental impacts of Argonaut Gold mining operations;

  • environmental and economic analysis of each new program or operation, including plans to construct, operate and close facilities, with a view to minimizing long term environmental exposure and financial liability;

  • monitoring programs designed to identify potential changes to the environment;

  • an environmental awareness education plan for all Argonaut Gold employees, especially those involved in daily mine operations and new property acquisition; and

  • an annual evaluation of reclamation programs to aid in compliance with governmental requirements and this Policy.
